Itineraries for trekking and bike

Promontory of Piombino: from Piombino to Populonia and back. Along the ancient Via dei Cavalleggeri on a beautiful path along the coast which was a watch post against pirates in the middle age. Well-recommended by mountain bike with a visit to the Castle of Populonia. Return by the trail of The Reciso to Calamoresca. Trekking time: 7 hrs./Full-run 14,5 km

Montioni - Suvereto: from the natural park where Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, princess of Piombino and sister of Napoleon, made built a village around the alum mines to the suggestive medieval hamlet, one of the first free municipalities of High Maremma. Easy trail among woods and country. There's the possibility to taste typical products like oil, wine and local food. Time and length can vary by the paths and stops selected.

Campiglia - Monte Calvi: from Campiglia to the summit of Monte Calvi, crossing wood also with the mountain bike. At the feet of Monte Calvi (646 m) the path becomes a little bit hard, but the stunning view is worth the effort. Trekking time 3hrs and a half - difference in altitude between 320 m (Campiglia) and 646 m (Monte Calvi) - medium difficulty trail.
Possibility to taste local food such as cakes in Campiglia Marittima.

Itineraries for trekking and bike  in costa etrusca

San Vincenzo - Campiglia - Venturina by mountain bike:
starting from San Carlo (near San Vincenzo) crossing wood and passing near the Parco of San Silvestro we reach Campiglia Marittima. From Campiglia we descend to Venturina.
The itinerary has some parts on slopes and mixed roads.

San Vincenzo - Baratti: pleasant path on a cycle lane from San Vincenzo to the small port of Baratti. Cycling along the Park of Rimigliano with its huge pine trees. On the track there's the possibility to visit the Archaelogical Park of Baratti and Populonia.

Tomboli di Cecina e Bolgheri: cycling on the well-known Viale dei Cipressi. It's possible to visit Bolgheri world famous for the wine produced here.

Cecina - Cecina Mare: easy trail along the river. During the excursion it's possible to visit the Archaelogical Museum of Villa Guerrazzi with an exhibition of interesting and rare Etruscan and Roman finds. The track is connected with the cycle lane of Vada that goes from the centre of the town to the tourist area and arrive to Cecina rivers' mouth.

Sentiero dei Molini: a medium difficulty trekking path 6 km long (max difference in altitude 420 m), in the wood of Castagneto Carducci. Along the track it's possible to see the remains of ancient water mills and the so called Ponte Lungo.

Sentiero del Romitorio (Castagneto Carducci - San Carlo): from the wood of Castagneto Carducci walking on ancient mule tracks and paths, crossing the typical Mediterranean Scrub rich in oaks, among high hills where it's possible to see ancient remains such as a hermitage. Difficult trail, 6 km long (max difference in altitude 330 m).

Via di Segalari: in the surroundings of Castagneto Carducci. Easy trail (max difference in altitude 142 m) suitable for trekking and bike, 7 km long. An easy walk admiring the view and Segalari tower, now a private house.

Via dei Cavalleggeri: in the surroundings of Donoratico. Easy landscape trail (max difference in altitude 20 m) suitable for trekking and bike, 2 km long. The path takes its name from an ancient military road.

Poggio Neri Park: a half day trail near Sassetta discovering the charcoal burners' work, among the nature of Val di Cornia.

Castagneto Carducci - Sassetta: from the wood of Castagneto Carducci, walking on old mule tracks and paths crossing the Mediterranean Scrub to reach the medieval hamlet of Sassetta. Difficult trail (max difference in altitude 320 m), 8 km long, suitable for trekking and mountain bike.
